SUBJECT: PSA: SPARKS Literary Festival taking place on Memorial’s St. John’s campus this weekend

Memorial’s Faculty of Arts is sponsoring the third annual SPARKS Literary Festival on Sunday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Petro-Canada Hall, School of Music.
The festival is divided into four sessions, each of which will consist of a lively mix of various genres and a combination of readings and discussion. Authors taking part include Frank Barry, Marjorie Doyle, Joel Thomas Hynes, Lesleyanne Ryan, Agnes Walsh, Shoshanna Wingate, Mark Callanan, John Ennis, Stephanie Trevorrow, Russell Wangersky, Danielle Devereaux, Jamie Fitzpatrick, Edward Riche, Leslie Vryenhoek and Patrick Warner.
Books will be available for sale and local magazines and letterpress publishers will be displaying material. An evening reception will follow the day-long event. Admission is free and parking will be available in lot 15. Food can be purchased on-site between 12-1 p.m.
In addition to readings and exhibits, the winner of the first annual Cox & Palmer SPARKS Creative Writing Award (today.mun.ca/news.php?news_id=6652) will be announced at the festival.
