SUBJECT: PSA: SPARKS fly at Memorial University literary festival

DATE: November 8, 2010

Memorial University’s inaugural SPARKS Literary Festival in January 2010 was a huge success. So much so that the Faculty of Arts has committed to making it an annual event.
The 2011 festival will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday,
Jan. 23, 2011 at the Petro-Canada Hall in the School of Music. Books will be available for sale and an evening reception will follow the day-long event.  Admission is free and parking will be available in Lot 15.
Prof. Mary Dalton, the festival’s founder and director, has once again assembled a stellar group of writers to entertain and enlighten audiences during a day-long festival of readings, talks and book and journal displays. An eclectic mix of poetry, fiction and non-fiction has been programmed and Prof. Dalton says there will be ample opportunity to interact with authors on the day and ask questions.
Confirmed participants are (in alphabetical order): Libby Creelman, Stan Dragland, Kate Evans, Dana Evely, Al Geehan, Andy Jones, James Langer, Samuel Thomas Martin, Larry Matthews, Robin McGrath, Bernice Morgan, George Murray, Jane Urquhart, Marie Wadden and Emily White.
Further details on the festival and a complete schedule can be found at www.mun.ca/arts/events/SPARKS.php.
