SUBJECT: Memorial’s Faculty of Business Administration to host national management conference

Memorial University’s Faculty of Business Administration will host the Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS) conference to be held in St. John’s from May 30-June 1.
It is the first time the CORS annual conference will be held in the capital city. Approximately 200 participants from around the world representing both academia and industry are expected to present papers and undertake discussion on a variety of topics in the area of operational research (OR).
Operational Research is a scientific method based on mathematics, computing, engineering and management science that helps improve operations in a variety of organizations. The Canadian Operational Research Society, in existence since 1958, is a scientific and professional society that takes a leadership role in the advancement of both the theory and practice of OR in Canada. CORS strives to meet its objectives through publications and annual conferences. 
“This conference is a wonderful opportunity for Memorial students and academics to participate in the conference, as well as interact with professionals working in the private or public sector, in the areas of finance, transportation, military, health care, telecommunications, consulting, and academia,” said Dr. Manish Verma, associate professor, management science/ operations management, Faculty of Business Administration.
