SUBJECT: Industry and government to support new research chair at Memorial University

Note to editors:
Dr. Gary Kachanoski, president and vice-chancellor of Memorial University, will host a news conference, Friday, March 18, to announce a significant investment to create a new research chair in the Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial.
Dr. Kachanoski will be joined by Brian Dalton, president and chief executive officer of Altius Minerals; David Robbins, board member of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada; Glenn Janes, chief executive officer of the Research and Development Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador; and Dr. Steve Piercey an associate professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Memorial.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. in the atrium inside the main entrance of the Alexander Murray (Earth Sciences) building, on Arctic Avenue, off Prince Philip Drive. A reception will follow.
