SUBJECT:

DATE: September 24, 2009

The theatre program at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College is opening its 2009-2010 season with a full bill of three of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies.

First up is The Tempest directed by Ken Livingstone (as his last production before stepping down as head of Fine Arts). The Tempest will feature distinguished Canadian actor and visiting artist Dermot Hennelly as Prospero. A special feature of the production will be the music of Pamela Morgan and Figgy Duff performed live by Pamela and some of Newfoundland’s finest musicians. The Tempest will play Oct. 28-31.

A month later Twelfth Night and As You Like It will alternate in repertory from Nov. 23-28.

Twelfth Night will be directed by returning guest artist Michael Waller who last season directed a delightful production of Much Ado About Nothing for the program.

As You Like It will be directed by theatre chair Todd Hennessey and will feature an entirely female cast. Details on the individual productions will follow shortly.
