SUBJECT:

DATE: January 12, 2010

A Grenfell folklorist will team up with a Montreal artist to examine the theme of “The Impossible Task” during a panel presentation at the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Art Gallery this week.

John Bodner, who teaches folklore, and Karen Trask, who is currently exhibiting her work at the gallery, will discuss the theme during the panel, which will take place 12:30-1:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15.

The theme of the impossible task forms the substance of myth – for example, Odysseus’ Penelope knitting and unknitting the shroud, and fairy tales such as Rumpelstiltskin, The Three Tasks and The True Bride.

All are welcome and refreshments will be served. For further information, contact Charlotte Jones, gallery director, at (709) 637-6209.
