SUBJECT: Outstanding teachers, researchers and staff members to be honoured by Memorial University

Memorial University of Newfoundland will recognize the efforts of its outstanding faculty and staff during a special ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 25, in St. John’s.
Media agencies are encouraged to send representatives to the 2008 President’s Awards ceremony which takes place at 12-2 p.m. in The Fluvarium, located on Nagle’s Place (Pippy Park).
Dr. Eddy Campbell, acting president of Memorial University, along with other senior university officials, will be in attendance. A luncheon reception will follow the ceremony.
Memorial will present the following awards:
Teaching and Research Awards Presentation
Through a competitive selection process, faculty members with demonstrated achievement in teaching and research are accorded one of the following distinctions: the President’s Award for Distinguished Teaching, the President’s Award for Outstanding Research or University Research Professor. This year’s 3M Teaching Fellowship recipient will also be honoured.                                                                  
Employee Exemplary Service Awards Presentation       
The President’s Award for Exemplary Service will be presented to five university employees who have been recognized by both their colleagues and the senior administration of the university.           
Exceptional Community Service
The Presidents’ Award for Exceptional Community Service will be presented.
