SUBJECT: New research network dedicated to sustainability of oceans to be launched at Memorial University

Officials from Memorial University, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Government of Canada will announce a new research network aimed at ensuring sustainable management of the oceans that surround Canada. Suzanne Fortier, president of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Dr. Eddy Campbell, acting president of Memorial University, together with Shawn Skinner, minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, will be participating in this announcement.
The announcement ceremony begins at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, in the Junior Common Room, R. Gushue Hall, on Memorial’s St. John’s campus. Media agencies are encouraged to attend. Parking is available in front of R. Gushue Hall.
