SUBJECT: Grenfell: Math fair takes to the road

DATE: October 3, 2008

Grenfell’s Math Fair will take to road this fall to meet the needs of students north of Deer Lake.
Dr. Amar Sodhi of Grenfell’s math department said this new development will make the trip easier, since students on the Northern Peninsula will only have to travel as far as Plum Point.
Math Fair is a day of games, with a mathematical twist, devised for a grade-nine audience.
West coast students south of Deer Lake will be invited to Grenfell College in Corner Brook for a Math Fair on Oct. 14, while the Plum Point Math Fair will take place on Oct. 17.
“The Math Fair also provides an opportunity for Grenfell students to become involved in the mathematical enrichment of selected junior high students,” said Dr. Sodhi, adding that Grenfell students Jillian Jenkins, Krista Park and Tisa Way will join him in taking the show up the Northern Peninsula. Also involved in this year’s activities are Jennifer Strangemore and Kathleen Snow of Grenfell’s math department.
