SUBJECT: Barnes House residence to be officially reopened

Officials from Memorial University and the provincial government will reopen Barnes House residence at a ceremony to be held on Memorial’s St. John’s campus on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008. Barnes House is the first to be completed in a major series of renovations being done to student residences and campus buildings at the university.
Acting Memorial President Dr. Eddy Campbell and Dr. Lilly Walker, dean of Student Affairs and Services, together with Minister Joan Burke, Department of Education, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, will participate in this reopening ceremony which is also being billed as a small “housewarming party” for the students and a celebration of the refurbishment of their campus home. The reopening ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m. in Barnes House, Paton College, located on Livyers Loop on the St. John’s campus.
Parking is available in Areas 11 and 14. Media agencies are invited to send representatives.
