SUBJECT: A public talk and reading on The Narrative Life of Things

Aislinn Hunter, Memorial University’s writer-in-residence, will give her final reading in conjunction with a talk on Thing Theory at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26, at Petro Canada Hall. This is an event that promises to be engaging, informative and celebratory (and, if you’ve seen Aislinn speak before – inevitably humorous and irreverent). Part poetry, part philosophy, part literary theory, part history and material culture, there’s something in the mix for everyone.
This is an excellent opportunity to hear one of our finest young public intellectuals engage in the thought-provoking matter of the object-world we live in. In the words of William Carlos Williams: “No ideas but in things.”
Admission to the reading is free and complimentary parking is available in Lot 15.
Aislinn Hunter is the current writer-in-residence at Memorial University. She is the author of four books (two books of poetry, a novel and a story collection) all of which have been shortlisted for, or won national awards. She is a former CBC broadcaster and producer, and holds degrees in art history, creative writing and writing and cultural politics. She is currently completing a PhD on ‘Beloved Objects’ at the University of Edinburgh, U.K.
