The fifth annual Ocean Innovation Conference and Exhibition will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from Oct. 21-24, 2007. This year’s theme, The Rise of Maritime Simulation, will be of interest to developers, manufacturers and users of marine modeling and simulation systems and components, training institutions and associated maritime industries. Offshore production and marine vessel owners and operators, as well as pilotage authorities and regulatory bodies, will also want to register.
Sponsored by the Canadian Centre for Marine Communications (CCMC), this year’s conference will get under way with the annual icebreaker, taking place at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, located just minutes from the Marriott Halifax Harbourfront Hotel. The main conference and exhibition will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 22-23 at the Marriott Halifax Harbourfront in the Nova Scotia Ballroom. Vice-Admiral James King (Ret’d) of CFN Consultants (Atlantic) will chair the conference.
A number of VIPs will attend this event including: Halifax Regional Municipality Deputy Mayor Sue Utech; Angus MacIsaac, deputy premier of Nova Scotia; Vice-Admiral King (Ret’d); Dr. Edwin R. Galea, founding director of the Fire Safety Engineering Group at the University of Greenwich, conference keynote speaker; and Frank Savage, development manager for Microsoft XNA, the gala dinner speaker).
Ocean Innovation is Canada's only International Maritime Simulation Conference and Exhibition and is an initiative of CCMC. CCMC is a separately-incorporated entity of Memorial University with its head office located at the Marine Institute in St. John's, Newfoundland.
