Ferriss Hodgett Library will be open for a 63-hour cram session this weekend.
Library staff came up with the “Study around the Clock” concept so students would have a quiet place to study, no matter what time of day. As a pilot project, the library will open for 63 hours straight from 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, until 11 p.m., Monday, April 7. Free coffee will be provided to library users with spill proof mugs, as well as healthy snacks and ear plugs.
“Exams begin on April 9, so we thought the weekend immediately before would be the perfect time to try this for the first time,” said Louise McGillis, who was recently appointed associate university librarian at Grenfell. “This is a direct response to student demands for extended library hours. We want to accommodate all study schedules – for those who like to work into the wee hours of the morning and those who like to get up early and get studying.”
For security reasons the front door to the Library and Computing Building will be locked at 11 p.m., so library users are asked to access the library via the main entrance of the Arts and Science Building.
