Students new to Grenfell College are invited to “Be a Part from the Start” during Orientation 2008.
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 2, and running throughout the month of September, Orientation is focused on welcoming all new students to the Grenfell community – everyone from mature and transfer students to those fresh out of high school. Orientation continues to evolve and improve each year and this year is no exception.
Orientation 2008 “Be a Part from the Start” includes a variety of activities, including an information session on the different services available at Grenfell (Grenfell 101), campus tours, free swims, free ice skating, a sexual health night, a dance party, barbecues, dodge ball, a boat tour and a trip to Gros Morne. Being involved in Orientation allows students to familiarize themselves with their new surroundings, learn interesting things about university life, make new friends, and most importantly, have some fun!
Parent Orientation will be held on two occasions: Monday, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m., and Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in LC301 of the Library and Computing Building. These sessions are designed to make parents an equal part of the transition to university. Parents will learn about campus life, services available at Grenfell College and the emotional challenges that may arise during this new experience.
The Non-Traditional Student Orientation is equally important – non-traditional students are those who fall into one of the following categories: 24 years or older, a single parent, had an interrupted education, is married, is without a high school diploma, has dependents, works full-time, is financially independent, or is a part-time student.
