SUBJECT: MedicLINK Systems Ltd. graduates from Genesis Centre

DATE: December 17, 2007

MedicLINK Systems Ltd., the award-winning medical business software developer, became the 21st graduate of the Genesis Centre today. MedicLINK leaves the Memorial University-based technology business incubator after securing significant private investment and gaining three years of business support and mentoring in an entrepreneurial environment.
MedicLINK specializes in developing software solutions which enable eye care professionals to maximize their business growth potential. Eyesistant, featured in optical stores and optometrists’ practices throughout North America, has shown itself to be a truly innovative eye care software solution. MedicLINK has been so successful with Eyesistant that it is expanding into the dermatology field through a California-based partnership. Currently, the company employs 14 people.
Founded in 2005 by Jonathan Brett, MedicLINK serves opticians and optometrists who require a comprehensive solution to very specific needs. The Eyesistant software helps identify and analyze business metrics such as demographics and sales, presenting growth opportunities for management.
Additionally, the software allows frontline staff to be more productive by easing tasks such as invoicing, inventory, claims, appointment scheduling and recalls. Its commitment to continuous improvement and innovation positions MedicLINK as an industry leader in innovative medical business software solutions in North America.
Dr. Axel Meisen, president and vice-chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland, congratulated MedicLINK and its CEO on the company’s success.
“Mr. Brett and his colleagues are building a promising company which has great potential not only in our province but also elsewhere. It provides services to the health care industry thereby resulting in better and more efficient patient care,” said Dr. Meisen. “At Memorial University we are proud of his accomplishments and pleased that the Genesis Centre was able to assist the company. We all wish MedicLINK continued successes.”
Mr. Brett, founder and CEO of MedicLINK, said “the Genesis Centre played a fundamental role in helping MedicLINK grow and succeed. Its services, resources, and business community linkages were highly influential. Indeed, it is with the help of the Genesis Centre that MedicLINK was the recipient of several prominent business awards in recent years and that our software is now installed in optical stores across Canada and in the United States.”
The Genesis Centre is a division of the Genesis Group Inc., the technology commercialization arm of Memorial University. The Genesis Centre has helped its clients secure private investment in excess of $9.8 million since its inception in 1997.
