2007-2008

News Release

REF NO.: 125

SUBJECT: Global voices come to Memorial University

DATE: March 5, 2008

Note to editors:

There will be more than the usual amount of chatter on the go next week in Memorial’s University Centre on the St. John’s campus.
For the second year in a row, the International Student Advising (ISA) office is hosting a unique event that celebrates the diverse multilingual community at Memorial.
It’s known as speedCHAT and the concept is simple: participants get a chance to interact with volunteers at various booths in different languages.
This year, there are 20 languages that will be represented – everything from Japanese, Hungarian and Russian to Spanish, Hindi and Arabic.
SpeedCHAT takes place Tuesday, March 11, from 12-2:30 p.m. on the third floor of the University Centre. Pre-registration is not required and the event is free.
Media agencies are invited to send representatives to the event.
Parking is available in Lots 16 and 16A.
