SUBJECT: Changing the face of cancer services through telehealth

A news conference to announce the results of the Newfoundland Labrador Teleoncology Program will be held Wednesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. in the conference room/staff lounge on the third floor of the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
            The use of information and communications technologies (telemedicine/telehealth) is changing the face of cancer services for hundreds of patients with cancer, particularly for those who live more than an hour or two from St. John’s.
            The news conference will include a live teleoncology demonstration between oncologist Dr. Jonathan Greenland and a patient living outside St. John’s.
Speakers participating in this news conference are: Dr. Max House, principal investigator of the Teleoncology Program; Louise Jones, interim president and CEO of Eastern Health; Dr. Kara Laing, clinical chief of oncology for Eastern Health; and Mike Barron, CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information.
            All speakers, and other key contributors to this project, will be available for interviews following the event.
