SUBJECT: Sundays on Health Research offers public session on autism

This Sunday the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University is hosting three related talks on autism. The talks take place from 2 – 4 p.m. in the main auditorium of the Health Sciences Centre and feature three speakers. Admission is free and there is free parking in Lot 9.
Joyce Churchill is a founding member of the Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism and a parent with a grown autistic son. She will talk about the work of the centre and the struggles of raising a child with autism.
Two researchers in the Faculty of Medicine will also speak. Dr. Bridget Fernandez will talk about genetic research into the causes of autism. And pediatrician Dr. Cathy Vardy will speak about diagnosing and treating autism in children and the importance of early intervention.
