SUBJECT: Pioneer in aquaculture research to be honoured by Memorial University

The aquatic research building at the Ocean Sciences Centre will be dedicated in honour of the late Dr. Joe Brown, research professor at the (OSC) of Memorial University of Newfoundland on Monday, July 9, 2007, at 5 p.m. Dr. Brown’s impressive legacy includes his internationally-recognized research in larval and juvenile fish behaviour and aquaculture development and his mentorship of students.
The Dr. Joe Brown Aquatic Research Building supports research, training, pre-commercial production and small-scale commercial trials on alternative species for marine aquaculture.
Media agencies are encouraged to send representatives. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Inco Innovation Centre atrium, Memorial University, St. John’s Campus. Guests are encouraged to car pool or avail of the complimentary shuttle service departing from the Inco Innovation Centre at 4 p.m. Reception to follow.
