SUBJECT: Memorial University Childcare Centre to celebrate over 30 years of operations

            The Campus Childcare Centre of Memorial University will be holding a reception to celebrate over 30 years of childcare delivery on the St. John’s Campus.
            Lisa Hollett, chair, and Dr. Carole Peterson, vice-chair of the Campus Childcare Centre Inc., will be hosting this reception which marks the anniversary of the opening of the current location (opened in 1992), and to reflect on the excellence the Campus Childcare Centre has been known for during its over 30 years of operations on the campus. The Campus Childcare Centre has recently become a separately incorporated entity (SIE) of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
            The reception will include a short ceremony with remarks from the Ross Wiseman, minister of the Department of Health and Community Services, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador; Kent Decker, vice-president (administration and finance), Memorial University; and Katherine Giroux-Bougard, president of the Memorial University of Newfoundland Students Union (MUNSU).
            The reception begins at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 in Room CC-2000, located in the Campus Childcare Centre on Burton’s Pond Road on the St. John’s campus.

            Media agencies are invited to send representatives as there will be ample photographic and videographic opportunities. Adults who spent time in the centre as children, current children and their parents, as well as past and current administrators of the centre will be available for interviews.
