SUBJECT: Grenfell - Public talk on sustaining rural communities

On Tuesday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend a presentation at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College by Mr. David Bruce, director of the Rural and Small Town Program at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. 
The Rural and Small Town Program is dedicated to linking research and action, and helping prepare areas for change so they may develop into sustainable rural communities. Mr. Bruce is knowledgeable in the area of rural community development and its associated topics. He has been involved in over 50 major research and outreach projects across Canada and was the former secretary-treasurer for the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation.
Mr. Bruce’s talk will address three major topics: (i) the challenges facing rural communities; (ii) what post-secondary institutions can do to address the challenges; and (iii) how an organization like the Rural and Small Town Program has been able to help rural areas face their challenges.
This event is sponsored by the Rural Research Feasibility Project (funded by the Centre for Environmental Excellence and Sir Wilfred Grenfell College). The public is invited to join the presenter for coffee at 7 p.m., room 328 in the Arts and Science Building, SWGC. The presentation will follow at 7:30pm. All are welcomed to attend.
