Memorial University will be hosting the official launch of Atlantic Canada’s high performance computing facility, the Atlantic Computational Excellence Network (ACEnet) on Monday, May 15, 2005, at the Inco Innovation Centre Lecture Theatre (IIC-2001), Inco Innovation Centre, off Irwin’s Road from 4:45 - 6 p.m. Officials from the federal and provincial governments will be on hand for the event.
ACEnet will create and operate high performance computing (HPC) facilities that rival the best in Canada and the world. ACEnet is a pan-Atlantic partnership between Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of New Brunswick (UNB), Saint Mary’s University, St. Francis Xavier University (StFX), Dalhousie University, Mount Allison University and the University of Prince Edward Island. These institutions will be interconnected, allowing them to behave as a single, regionally distributed ‘computational power grid’ of enormous capacity.
Media are encouraged to send representatives. Parking available in Areas 17 and 18.
