DATE: January 25, 2005

Note to editors:

Memorial University's public forum on the Atlantic Accord has been re-scheduled. Several units at Memorial University have teamed up to sponsor the forum, which is aimed at creating greater awareness of the issues surrounding the equalization debate. The forum — titled The Atlantic Accord, Equalization, and Offsets: An Independent Assessment — will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, and begins at 8 p.m. in the Reid Theatre located in the Arts and Administration Building, on Memorial's St. John'scampus.

The centerpiece of the forum is a presentation on equalization by Memorial economist Dr. Wade Locke. A panel discussion will follow the presentation and will feature political scientists Drs. Chris Dunn and Stephen Tomblin and economist Dr. James Feehan. The forum will be moderated by Dr. Robert Greenwood, director of the Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development.

The public is invited to attend this forum and there is no admission charge. Free parking is available in lot 15, located east of the Music Building.

The forum will be available throughout the province via a live Web cast. Details can be found at www.mun.ca.
