SUBJECT: PSA: Renowned Dracula scholar to present at Memorial

It is unlikely that Ted Russell foresaw a literary connection between Uncle Mose and Dracula, never mind a living one. That connection is Russell’s daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Miller, retired MUN English professor and world-renowned authority on Dracula. She has presented papers on Dracula throughout the world and is author of five books on the subject.

While in St. John’sto attend the launch of CBC’s Uncle Mose’s Web site and the release of her new book, Uncle Mose: The Life of Ted Russell (Flanker Press), she will present Life With Dracula. This illustrated presentation will take place Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m.It is sponsored by Memorial University’s Division of Lifelong Learning and the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development.

Dr. Miller will examine the fascination with Dracula and vampires, exploring the origin of the myth, the novel Dracula and its author Bram Stoker, and the enduring nature of the story. She will also share with the audience some of her own experience as a Dracula scholar, including the unusual people she has met along the way.
