SUBJECT: Feminist scholar to give Pratt Lecture at Memorial

Feminist theorist and scholar Susan Gubar will deliver the annual Pratt Lecture at Memorial University titled The Once and Future History of Sex and Gender. The lecture will be held in the Reid Theatre on Friday, March 18, at 8 p.m.

A pioneer of feminist criticism, Dr. Gubar has written extensively on the woman writer in the 19th and 20th centuries, co-authoring, with Sandra Gilbert, studies such as The Madwoman in the Attic and No Man’s Land. She has written diversely about feminism in the academy in Critical Condition, and on post-Holocaust poetry in Poetry After Auschwitz: Remembering What One Never Knew.

The Pratt Lecture is hosted by the Department of English and funded by the Dean of Arts. A reception will follow in the University Club. Everyone is welcome and there is no admission charge. Free parking is available in areas 15 and 15B, next to the School of Music.
