SUBJECT: Marine Institute graduation ceremonies to take place Friday, June 11, 2004

The Marine Institute’s 2004 graduation ceremonies will take place at the Institute’s Ridge Road campus on Friday, June 11, 2004, at 3:30 p.m.

Approximately 175 diplomas, advanced diplomas and certificates will be awarded in aquaculture, coastal zone management, food technology, food safety, marine diesel mechanic, offshore structural steel/plate fitter, marine engineering, marine environmental, marine engineering systems design, nautical science, and naval architecture. Graduates of the bachelor of technology, bachelor of maritime studies and the master of marine studies received their degrees at Memorial University’s convocation ceremonies in St. John’s on May 26.

This year’s graduation ceremony will also mark the launch of the Marine Institute’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Since its founding in 1964 as the College of Fisheries, Navigation, Marine Engineering and Electronics, the Marine Institute has made enormous contributions to developing the fisheries and marine industries, both locally and worldwide. Throughout the year, the institute will host a number of events for students, alumni, industry partners and the general public to mark this significant milestone.
