Accreditation
The Mechanical Engineering program is fully accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
The Mechatronics Engineering program will be eligible for accreditation upon the completion of the degree by the first graduating class in Winter 2027. The program has been designed and delivered in accordance with all CEAB standards in anticipation of full accreditation.
Students are taught, and must demonstrate, competence in twelve Graduate Attributes, as measured by performance indicators. More information may be found to the left.

Timeline
- Academic Year 2025-26: "snapshot year" in which we gather assessments, course outlines and student samples; compile continuous improvement data and summarize the "Accreditation Units" of the program.
- Accreditation Unit (AU) = equivalent to one hour of instructional time

- August 2025, November 2025, March 26: retreats for instructors teaching courses with Design AUs (225 minimum required for program, must be taught by P.Eng)
- December 31, 2026: department report submitted to CEAB
- February 28 - March 2, 2027: CEAB visit, including faculty, staff and student interviews; facilities tour, curriculum evaluation
- June - July 2027: accreditation decision received from CEAB
