Congratulations to Dr. Norafneeza Norazahar on the Completion of PhD Degree

Norafneeza Norazahar, a PhD student who was supervised by Drs. Faisal Khan, Brain Veitch and Scott MacKinnon, recently passed her final oral examination and thesis defense on November 30, 2016.

Dr. Norazahar’s research focused on safety and human factors and her thesis is titled “Risk Management of Human and Organizational Factors for the Escape and Evacuation of Offshore Installations”. She has worked on integrating human and organizational factors in both risk assessment and risk management for escape and evacuation operations of offshore installations.

“For me, it was my great opportunity to be a member of C-RISE at Memorial University and I am thankful to Dr. Khan, who was always had faith in my ability to accomplish my research and thesis. His guidance inspired and motivated me to give the best effort.” Dr. Norazahar said. “I also would like to extend my gratitude to all group members for their willingness to assist me throughout the program. I have gained learning experience from them, who have brought their own unique educational backgrounds and perspectives from all over the world.”

Dr. Norazahar joined C-RISE in 2012 and she has published two journal papers in safety science and one conference paper. Currently there are two more manuscripts have been submitted and under review in Risk Analysis and ASCE-ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering System, Part B: Mechanical Engineering. “C-RISE trained me and provided me the best research environment, in which I grow fast as an individual and as a researcher”. Dr. Norazahar said.
