Exercise Campus Collaboration 2013

Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Office of Emergency Management hosted a full-scale exercise in collaboration with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, Eastern Health, St. John's Regional Fire Department, Canadian Red Cross and The Salvation Army on its St. John’s Campus on May 13, 2013. The exercise was a test of Memorial's Emergency Management Plan that helped the university practice for a potential emergency. The Exercise Player Handbook and Controller/Evaluator Handbook can be found via a link to your right.

In an effort to inject realism into the exercise, it was a full day event, involving casualties and actual simulation of the exercise injects. It involved simulated responses from police, fire and paramedics on campus. Specific areas of the St. John's Campus were used as part of the exercise. Areas in the following buildings or infrastructure were used for exercise play:

  • Arts and Administration Building
  • Chemistry Physics Building (restricted access in certain areas)
  • Engineering Building
  • R. Gushue Hall
  • Blackall
  • Science Building (restricted access in certain areas)
  • Academic/Blue Line Tunnel (Bruneau Centre to Residences)
  • Parking Lots: 11 and 17

Most day-to-day operations, teaching and research in the areas noted above continued as normal. In specific areas where occupants were not allowed access advance notification was given and alternate arrangements were made for that day.
