Juliana Vidal is a PhD Candidate at Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada, and under the supervision of Dr. Francesca Kerton and co-supervision of Dr. Stephanie MacQuarrie, she is investigating new applications for a sustainable material obtained from wood waste called biochar. She previously completed her B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. at Federal University of Juiz de Fora in Brazil. Today, Juliana is the Director of Marketing and Communications of the Network of Early-Career Sustainable Scientists and Engineers (NESSE), and the Graduate Student Liaison of Beyond Benign, a non-profit organization dedicated to Green Chemistry Education. She is a member of the Governance Task Force of the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) and has been selected a Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) Future Leader in the last year.
