What We Do
The Centre for Social Enterprise uses existing resources at Memorial in different ways to support existing social enterprises, create new ones and promote social enterprise education. Our activities support teaching and learning in social enterprise, such as the Memorial’s MBA in social enterprise and entrepreneurship; foster research to strengthen understanding of social entrepreneurship and the dynamics of social enterprises; and support growing social enterprises in our province through social enterprise incubation.
- We connect students to community through work experience in social enterprise.
- We bring social enterprise into the classroom by supporting innovative course work and community service learning.
- We create the space for conversations, idea sharing and fostering collaborations around the intersection of social enterprise, social justice and other related themes engaging with community for research and other projects.
Social enterprise is of interest today and has potential for our province to diversify. It is also of interest to this generation of students and researchers who are interested in businesses that are not just for profit. Over time we are developing a community around social enterprise that promotes positive and sustainable social change.
