Main Brook - Traditional Craft Skills

George Elliott is a resident of Main Brook who has been making steamed birch snowshoes since he was a young boy. This is a skill that very few people practice anymore due to how time-consuming the process is. He is also a boatbuilder-- a practice he has had to give up in recent years. Now in his 80s, George has long-since perfected his various craft skills and is eager to share his knowledge. Here George talks about boatbuilding and snowshoe making, alongside what life has been like on the Northern Peninsula.
