About

Memorial’s Entrepreneurship Training Program (ETP) is a program for graduate students interested in starting a business and learning the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Featuring the semester long Discover and Develop programs, ETP helps graduate students explore the possibilities that entrepreneurship offers.

The ETP is delivered through interactive presentations and workshops by award-winning entrepreneurs and faculty. The program covers core entrepreneurship themes and skills such as problem solving and design learning, the lean start-up methodology, sales, marketing and financial planning. The ETP also connects graduate students to local entrepreneurs, mentors, funding sources and other essential resources.

Discover the first stage of the ETP. It is a program that is offered in person and online during the Fall and online during the Winter and Spring. Discover introduces students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship in Canada. We offer workshops on eight different topics, from the lean canvas to financing, to help you start your own business. You can be at any stage: you can have an idea, have something already in the works, or just be curious about what’s involved. Grad students from all faculties at all MUN campuses are welcome to apply!

Develop is the second stage of the ETP. It is an in-person program for graduates of the Discover program that covers eight new topics that are perfect for students who are now in the process of starting their own business. From marketing and social media to intellectual property and commercialization, these topics are targeted towards students who have a business idea and a firm understanding of the fundamentals. Graduates of Discover are welcome to apply!

In 2013, the ETP received a national award from the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers (CACEE) for Excellence in Innovation and Student Engagement. It also received a national award for Program Innovation from the National Student Affairs & Services Association, a division of the Canadian Association for College and University Student Services (CACUSS).
