The 2019 Affinity NL Calgary Dinner will be a wonderful evening as we celebrate Memorial University and Newfoundland and Labrador in the heart of western Canada.
This year we're excited to welcome keynote speaker Trent McClellan and Emcee Sheila Williams to the event. The Affinity NL Calgary Dinner brings together hundreds of alumni, industry leaders, students and friends of Memorial for an unforgettable evening of fun, stories and networking.
There will be plenty of food, laughter and reasons to celebrate our university and Newfoundland and Labrador, all while raising money for student scholarships at Memorial.

Trent McClellan - Keynote Speaker
Originally from Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Trent McClellan is a stand-up comedian, writer, podcaster and actor known for his approachable, candid and effortless observational comedy. Trent may be best known for his role on CBC’s This Hour has 22 Minutes. He joined the cast in 2017 after contributing as a writer for several years. He has had numerous filmed television performances from the Just for Laughs Montreal, Winnipeg and Halifax Comedy festivals for CBC Television, and has recorded comedy specials for CTV and the Comedy Network. Trent is also a favourite on the Canadian airwaves. He can be heard on the popular CBC radio program “The Debaters,” and he was a panelist on CBC’s Canada Reads where he defended “February” by Lisa Moore.
Sheila Williams - Master of Ceremonies
A proud Newfoundlander and renowned celebrity in her province, Sheila Williams has been performing for 30 years. Included in her list of credits are: singing, acting, conference hosting, motivational speaking and her favorite, comedy. Sheila is able to weave all of these abilities into a unique tapestry which will entertain your audience while compelling them to think differently. Sheila has a degree in Music Education from the Memorial University of Newfoundland and a degree in Music Therapy from Capilano University, British Columbia.
