Apply to Memorial

Memorial University welcomes applicants of all ages and at all stages from Newfoundland and Labrador, all areas of Canada, and from around the world. Whether you are in high school preparing for your next steps, you are a high school graduate who is ready to start your degree, or you have been studying at another university or college and you find that Memorial offers what you need or want in order to complete your degree, you will find everything you need to know about the application and admission process here.

Follow our step-by-step application guide and you’re on your way to becoming a Memorial University student.

Choose your area of interest, campus, and starting semester and then check the application deadlines

With over 100 degree programs and multiple campuses to choose from, your options are wide open.

  • The university has one point of application for admission for undergraduate degree, Marine Institute (non-degree), and graduate degree programs, regardless of your campus of choice.

  • Memorial University offers general undergraduate admission to any applicant who meets the minimum general application and admission requirements.

  • You do not need to declare a degree to be admitted to Memorial University.

  • Admission directly from high school is available to the Faculties of Arts, Science, Engineering and Applied Science, and Business; the Schools of Music, and Human Kinetics and Recreation; to the collaborative Bachelor of Nursing program; and to programs offered at the Grenfell Campus.

  • Some faculties, schools, and programs have specific admission requirements that are beyond those in place for general admission. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to a program.

  • Applicants for some degree programs (other than pre-programs) including those offered by the Faculty of Education, the School of Pharmacy, the School of Social Work, the Marine Institute, and the Faculty of Medicine must have completed a minimum period of university level studies or equivalent in order to apply for admission. The requirements for each program are provided in the related section of the online University Calendar.

  • For information regarding admission to graduate degree programs through Memorial's School of Graduate Studies or to non-degree programs offered by Memorial's Marine Institute, click the links provided.

Make sure you check the relevant deadlines for filing your application.

Deadlines

  • Some academic units admit students only for the Fall semester and do not assess applications after a set deadline, while others offer admission for multiple semesters without deadlines.
  • It is important for you to know about any semester or application requirements for your program of interest and the date by which all documents must be received in order for your application to be properly considered.
  • The general and faculty or school application deadlines are provided here.
  • For general admission, late applications are given the greatest priority possible but are processed as time and resources permit.
  • Registration normally begins at least six weeks prior to the start of the semester. Class availability and eligibility to register for applicants depends upon the status of your application and your admission eligibility.
  • Incomplete or late applications may result in delays in decisions being reached.
