Katherine Wilson - Katherine Wilson is the Acting Chief of Strategic Policy and Planning at the Canadian Ice Service. She has been involved in Arctic research and Arctic science programing in Canada for over 20 years. Although she is not a “new voice”, her experiences have highlighted the need for new approaches to research and working with northern communities. This need has significantly influenced her, and in the fall of 2015 Katherine embarked on her PhD part-time at Memorial University. Although early in her research journey, Katherine will be looking at how northern traditional and local knowledge can be fully utilized and genuinely integrated with western science, to understand and respond to change in Arctic environments.
