Branch - Landscape

Branch has a rich landscape where the mouth of Branch River opens out into a wide valley along the shoreline of Branch Cove. The Naked Man is the highest point of land in the Easter Cove. The term naked man is the local term for an Irish cairn (or carn) - a manmade pile of stones often found on mountain tops and near waterways. It is easy to imagine how the first Irish settlers would have built cairns from the rocks on this hilltop overlooking the river valley and cove.
