At a glance: Session 7 ETP Summer 2024

On July 18, 2024, The Entrepreneurial Inspiration Summer 2024 hosted a session: Startup vs Small Business: What's Your Path? Many thanks to Dr. Sid Eskandari, CEO of HYKE, for his helpful and excellent session! We have learned much from his presentation, expertise, and advice on startups and small businesses, which inspire our ETP students to be more confident when starting their own businesses in the near future. ETP participants engaged highly during this session♥.

New Frontiers In Childcare

ETP was ‘pivotal’ and provided ‘entrepreneurship possibilities through insightful sessions with resourceful speakers well-versed in the Newfoundland and Labrador business landscape.' This program supported a master’s degree in medicine (neuroscience)student to co-develop Kiderra, A platform that aims to digitalize the childcare ecosystem.

Many thanks to Brian Hurley- Business Manager and President of Iron Rock Brewing Co., for his helpful and excellent session! We have learned much from his presentation about the business journey of his brother and his, COVID-19 overcoming, and management skills. ETP Session 5: Share from and Talk with Entrepreneur Brian Hurley

MUN students, spouses, alums and staff are welcome to register for the Share from and Talk with Entrepreneur Brian Hurley Session. It is hosted by the MUN School of Graduate Studies, Entrepreneur Training Program ♥!

Brian is an entrepreneur and experienced professional with a passion for connecting organizations. Leveraging his experience with companies of varying sizes and sectors, he brings a unique perspective to small businesses, which is informed by his international exposure and data-driven nature. His success draws from his ability to work across diverse operational areas, tapping into ritualized ingenuity. The company has persevered by filling its team with those who share this trait.

Brian and his Brother, Dave Hurley, began planning Iron Rock Brewing Co. in 2017 and opened their doors on October 19, 2019. IRBC focuses on crafting world-class beers and experiences for the people of Labrador that are sought after province-wide. He understands that the challenges of running a small business in Labrador are similar to those of living in Labrador. As the company's Business Manager, he stewards the company's strategic direction and is responsible for sales, logistics & distribution, finance, people & culture, marketing, regulatory and risk, among other roles all small business owners fulfill.

He proudly hails from Bell Island, NL, an ex-mining community with a rich industrial heritage. He now resides in St. John's, holds an MBA and B.Eng. (Mechanical) from Memorial University and is a registered Professional Engineer.

In addition to his duties with his small business, Brian is a member of the Seafair Capital leadership team. Our guest speaker, Jeremy is a mechanical engineer and programming enthusiast who co-founded CoLab after running into the same problem everywhere in the industry: the tools available to engineering teams were decades behind the software industry. From captaining Memorial University's award-winning SAE Baja team and working as a designer on the Paradigm Hyperloop team to experience with industry heavy-hitters like Tesla and General Dynamics, one of Jeremy's many accomplishments includes designing "the most complex wire harness ever used in a Tesla battery pack.

Beautiful breakthrough

ETP is giving 'big picture' guidance to an Engineering and Applied Science student to co-develop the BeauSync app and is readying its launch

Kelvin Idogun (left), a doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, and Memorial alumnus Dr. Cleverson Esene (right) co-developed the BeauSync app and are readying its launch. His entrepreneurial journey is deeply intertwined with his experiences at Memorial University. Participation in the Entrepreneurship Training Program-Discover in fall 2023 and the Genesis Evolution Program has been pivotal in shaping the vision and development of BeauSync.
