Alternative Accommodations

Alternative Housing Options

Student Housing offers a limited number of single/bachelor units for those students who have documented medical concerns or accessibility requirements that require alternative living arrangements. Students are required to complete the Application for Alternative Housing at Grenfell Campus (link to form) ) form and ensure all relevant documentation is provided.

How to Successfully apply for Alternative Accommodations:

  1. Select YES for Alternative Housing on the application personal details page
  2. Review the document Application for Alternative Accommodations
  3. Pay the $20.00 non-refundable application fee
  4. All correspondence is sent to the email address used to login
  5. Upon receiving your Offer of Accommodations you will be given a three (3) week period to pay a $500 confirmation fee to reserve your room space for the Fall semester. There is no confirmation fee required for Winter, Spring, or Intersession. * Applications are given priority based on the timestamp of the application fee payment.
  6. Complete the Application for Alternative Housing at Grenfell Campus and submit by email or in person to the Accessibility Centre and Education Support (ACES) office at Grenfell Campus by June 15

* Applications will not be accepted mid-semester or Winter semester due to logistical reasons. 

 

Service Animals

As per federal/ provincial guidelines, Grenfell Campus Student Housing will uphold a student’s right to live on-campus with a documented Service Animal. We ask that students notify us in advance of arriving with a Service Animal to allow time for an appropriate room space/ roommate to be reserved.

Students requiring accommodations with their documented Service Animal are asked to Apply Online (link to Apply Online page)

 

Emotional Support Animals

Support animals are prescribed by a healthcare or mental health professional to play an integral part in the provision of emotional support, comfort or therapy and/or treatment process for an individual. A support animal is not a service animal and does not require individual training or certification to perform any disability-related task.

How to successfully apply for an Emotional Support Animal:

  1. Click here to complete the Student Housing application form
  2. Select YES for Alternative Housing on the application personal details page
  3. Review the document
  4. Review the document Guidelines for Service and Support Animals Within Student Housing
  5. Pay the $20.00 non-refundable application fee. * Applications are given priority based on the timestamp of the application fee payment.
  6. All correspondence is sent to the email address used to login
  7.   9. Submit supporting documentation to Accessibility Centre and Education Support (ACES) no later than June 15
