English Placement Test for Bachelor and Graduate Students

You need to take the English Placement Test if…

  • you are beginning an undergraduate degree (not ESL) or graduate degree for the first time in September 2018

AND

  • you were required to submit an IELTS, TOEFL, MELAB or other test of English proficiency score for admission to Memorial University

AND

  • your first language is NOT English

OR

  • you have not completed a degree in an all-English medium university

Please note that this test is required in addition to TOEFL and IELTS.

How to Register for the English Placement Test (EPT)

Registration begins on July 10, 2018 (Undergraduate) or August 6, 2018 (Graduate)

The process of registering for the EPT is the same as registering for a course. The course name is ENGL 1EPT. There are two test dates for the EPT, and you are free to choose whichever is most convenient as long as there is room available. The CRNs are 68576 (August 31) and 68575 (September 7). Full registration procedures can be found at http://www.mun.ca/regoff/registration

The EPT can only be done once, so it is better to register for the first date, if at all possible. If a student misses the first test, he/she may be able to register for the 2nd date, only if there is space available.

The deadline for 68576 is August 29, 2018.

The deadline for 68575 is September 5, 2018.
