SUBJECT: PSA: Public lecture on the socioeconomic benefits of immigration to Newfoundland and Labrador

DATE: March 17, 2017

Recent events such as the European refugee crisis, Brexit and the 2016 U.S. election have drawn intense debates over immigration and refugee policies worldwide.

Drawing experiences from Australia, Canada, and the United States, Dr. Tony Fang, Jarislowsky Chair in Economic and Cultural Transformation at Memorial, will discuss the economic, social and cultural benefits of immigration, with support from empirical evidences of both long-run and short-run impacts of large-scale immigration to Canada.

The lecture will take place on Wednesday, March 22, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in

A-1049, Arts and Administration building, on the St. John’s campus.
