SUBJECT: Fisheries and Marine Institute to celebrate 2017 graduates

More than 175 graduates will receive diplomas and certificates during the 2017 graduation ceremony at the Fisheries and Marine Institute (MI) of Memorial University of Newfoundland on Friday, June 16.

The event will take place in the gymnasium of MI’s Ridge Road campus at 2 p.m.

The ceremony will include remarks from Glenn Blackwood, vice-president, Memorial University (Marine Institute); Bernard Davis, MHA, Virginia Waters-Pleasantville, and parliamentary secretary to the minister, Health and Community Services; and Chad Mayo, student speaker, who is graduating from the marine engineering systems design program.

At the recent Memorial University convocation, more than 110 bachelor’s and master’s degrees were presented to Marine Institute graduates.

As part of MI’s graduation celebration activities, students, friends and family are invited to share their graduation congratulations, photos and special moments via social media using the hashtag #MIGrad17. You can join the celebration on Twitter, Instagram and the Marine Institute Facebook page.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on www.mi.mun.ca beginning at 2 p.m. N.L. time and archived on the Marine Institute’s YouTube channel for future viewing.
