SUBJECT: PSA: Genesis Centre hosting student competition

DATE: February 12, 2016

One minute. That’s how long students from both Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic will have to impress seasoned entrepreneurs, potential investors and mentors with their business plans.

The Genesis Centre, Memorial’s business incubator for technology-based ventures with high-growth potential, is hosting Pitch101, an event aimed at giving student entrepreneurs a chance to convey their business plans in 60 seconds or less.

After a short Q&A with judges, an audience will then decide the winner with a vote. The top vote getter receives $500; second place receives $300; and third place receives $200.

The deadline for student participants to register is Monday, Feb. 15. To sign up, students must visit genesiscentre.ca.

Pitch101 takes place Friday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. until noon in the Engineering Lounge, Room EN-4000, in the S.J. Carew (Engineering) Building on the St. John’s Campus.

A lunch reception will follow.
