SUBJECT: Marine Institute to open Hibernia Offshore Operations Simulator Facility

The Fisheries and Marine Institute (MI) of Memorial University, Hibernia Management and Development Company and the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador will officially open the Hibernia Offshore Operations Simulator Facility on Friday, Oct. 30.
The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. at MI’s main campus located at 155 Ridge Rd. The ceremony will begin in Hampton Hall and will be followed by a reception and tours of the simulator at MI’s Centre for Marine Simulation.

Designed to replicate offshore supply ships, the Hibernia Offshore Operations Simulator Facility is the latest in training technology for the offshore oil and gas sector. It will train new and existing offshore personnel to perform complex tasks such as positioning and mooring offshore rigs and supply platforms in harsh working environments.
