SUBJECT: PSA: Marine Institute to host World Oceans Day N.L. event
DATE: June 5, 2014
A free public event celebrating World Oceans Day will be held at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at 155 Ridge Rd., St. Johns.
There will be attractions for all ages: face painting and crafts, touch a sea cucumber, pilot an underwater remotely operated vehicle, explore a fisheries patrol boat or listen to the sounds of whales communicating. Guests can even learn to split a fish or tag a puffin. There will be lots to see and do!
The free event is a joint collaboration between the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, World Wildlife Foundation-Canada and the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
