SUBJECT: Memorial Universitys Marine Institute to hold third annual Nautical Skills Competition

The third annual Nautical Skills Competition will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Marine Institutes Ridge Road campus, in the Centre for Marine Simulation. The event will take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Nautical Skills Competition, hosted by the Company of Master Mariners of Canada (N.L. Division), in collaboration with the Marine Institute, is a series of challenging exercises designed not only to test marine knowledge and ability but also to develop leadership skills and confidence.
Directed toward nautical science students, this competition looks to promote the maritime sector, encourage team building and professionalism, and foster a culture of safety.
By participating in the event, students will network with some of the regions most experienced mariners, interact with fellow cadets and put their education to the test in the pursuit for top prize and their name on the Captain Jim Thorpe trophy.
