SUBJECT: Memorial University’s fall celebrations taking place across three campuses

MUNdays, Memorial’s annual fall celebrations, kicked off today, Thursday, Oct. 17, with a free pancake breakfast in the Main Dining Hall on the St. John’s campus. At the Marine Institute, the official launch happens at 1 p.m. with games and prizes.
At the St. John’s and Marine Institute campuses, I ♥ MUNdays and I ♥ MI MUNdays is slated to run Oct. 17-22. I ♥ Grenfell takes place Oct. 23-27. This year, on the St. John's campus, havin' a time: Reunion 2013 will run concurrently Oct. 17-21. For more information, visit www.reunion.mun.ca.
After breakfast on the St. John’s campus, the Official Launch of I ♥ MUNdays takes place at 9:15 a.m., followed by the Spirit Parade at 9:30 a.m. Participants will depart the Main Dining Hall, march around campus and wave flags and sing songs to represent their house, club, society or faculty . . . or to just show some general spirit, loudly! The most spirited group gets $1,000! Will the Pakistani Student Association win again this year?
From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Landing in the University Centre, the Mid-term Resource Fair will be happening. First-year students or undeclared students will have the opportunity to connect with schools and faculties about their academic journeys.
As well, Spirit Award challenges take place all week long. Teams collect clues and compete to win $1,000!
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 18, it’s Kindness Friday! The concept is simple: students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees are invited to show their appreciation for someone or something. It's kindness – just because. The campus-wide kindness initiative, Fill the Square in front of Hatcher House at Paton College, will take place again this year. The Memorial community will bring non-perishable food items and gently used winter items from home to help make the square disappear!
Also all day today at a variety of locations are Faculty Reunions. Are you a MUN alum? havin’ a time: Reunion 2013 is the perfect time to put yourself back in the picture! Visit www.reunion.mun.ca for details!
Also tomorrow, the University Centre (UC) food court will transform into the UC Lounge. Everyone is invited to relax, kick back in one of the comfy couches and enjoy some live tunes by local DJs and maybe even win a prize. The UC Lounge takes place 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
And from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (or until the food’s all gone!), Technical Services will host a MUNdays Barbecue outside the QEII Library. Hamburgers, hot dogs and cold drinks are going for loonies and toonies and will be sure to go fast. All proceeds support the Roland "Rex" Carter Memorial Scholarship.
Six whole days of MUNdays events and activities are planned, encouraging students, staff, faculty and alumni to come together, celebrate Memorial and make memories to last a lifetime.
MUNdays highlights the diversity, ingenuity, excellence, kindness and community spirit that distinguish Memorial as one of the best post-secondary institutions in the world.
