SUBJECT: The energy keeps building during MUNdays

DATE: October 24, 2011

The fun keeps coming and the spirit keeps building as I Love MUNdays continue on Memorial’s St. John’s campus.
Starting out on Monday, Oct. 24, it’s one of the most anticipated events of the year. The International Bazaar takes place 12-3 p.m. at the University Centre. It’s a celebration of Memorial University’s diversity, complete with delicious international cuisine, music, dancing and crafts.
Then at 3:30 p.m. it’s an I Love MUNdays classic. Our 12 finalists – 10 from St. John’s, one from Grenfell Campus and one from the Marine Institute -- will take to the stage at Rant Like Rick and speak their minds for a shot at bragging rights and a $1,000 top prize. Come out to the Breezeway and cheer on your favourite ranter.
Tuesday, Oct. 25, marks the final day of I Love MUNdays 2011 but don’t fret -- we’re going out with a bang. At 1 p.m., community will be the name of the game. A campus-wide call is going out to everyone -- and that means everyone -- to come out to the Field House and help Memorial set a new Guinness World Record. Students, staff and faculty are challenged to be the largest group of people standing on one foot for two minutes. The standing record is 703 people -- 704 is in our sights!
As well, students, staff and faculty will try and set their own record for the greatest distance travelled as a MUN community at the all-day Health Challenge in the Field House. Then, next year’s MUNdays will provide a chance to break it.
The I Love MUNdays Closing Ceremonies will take place at 2 p.m. in the Field House. Join us to present some of the week’s more prestigious awards.
MUNdays highlights the diversity, ingenuity, excellence, kindness and community spirit that distinguish Memorial as one of the best post-secondary institutions in the world.
A full slate of events and activities have been planned, encouraging students, staff, faculty and alumni to come together, celebrate Memorial and have an unforgettable time.
Complete schedules, including dates, locations and times for all events are available online at www.mun.ca/mundays/schedule/.
