SUBJECT: Grenfell: : Grenfell College to hold first Sustainability Week

DATE: March 4, 2010

A student group at Grenfell College has organized the campus’ first Sustainability Week, March 7-13.

Grenfell’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) group introduced the G³ project – Grenfell Goes Green – earlier this academic year. Now, G³ is initiating Sustainability Week.

Sustainability Week will feature a number of engaging and interactive events to promote environmentally conscious lifestyles to the residents and students of Corner Brook and surrounding areas. The hope is to establish Sustainability Week as an annual event to recurrently inspire responsible eco-living.

Highlights this year will include Recycling and Remaking Paper, Sprout Your Own Lunch, Food Films (such as the provocative Fast Food Nation) and the Re-fashion Show; the week culminates in Take Action Friday.

SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise), a division of ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship), aims to challenge team members and partners to drive growth and development through community investment. SIFE’s G³ project partners them with the Grenfell College Student Union and students working with Grenfell College’s Environmental Policy Unit.
