Have you ever wondered about Canada’s energy opportunities?
As a nation, Canada is blessed with energy resources which are extraordinary in their variety and scale. Exceptional amongst OECD countries, Canada is a large producer, intensive user, and a major exporter of energy-rich commodities and manufactured products. How skillfully we manage the evolution and future development of our energy economy will, in the long term, have a profound impact on the quality of the lives of all Canadians.
Only the continuing vigorous development of energy technologies that can provide us with real future options in how we produce, transform and ultimately use energy can assure us of the ability to respond to the evolving economic conditions, environmental imperatives and the needs, values and expectations of Canadians.
Dr. Angus A. Bruneau has had a career of more than 40 years in research, development, technology-based innovation and related policy matters. A former dean and founder of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland, he has also established organizations such as Bruneau Resources Management Ltd., C-CORE and Fortis Inc., and held senior positions at Newfoundland Power.
Join Dr. Bruneau as he discusses how the development of energy technologies is central to our own well being and how it can assure Canada of a future leadership role amongst nations.
The event, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador, will be held on Thursday, Nov.15, 2007, at 7:30 p.m., in the S. J. Carew Building lecture theatre, room EN-2006, on Memorial’s St. John’s campus. Admission is free. Parking is available in Lot 16. All are welcome. Reception will follow.
